Happy Halloween in Provo

I posted Spencer & Sydney separately, since you couldn't see their costumes as well in the group shot.
Here are the Halloween humbugs, who didn't dress up. :)

We made ghosts and hung them in the tree this weekend, the kids loved it. As you can see, Garrett has been living in his power ranger costume! He's using his power ranger abilities here in the tree. It's beautiful weather here, we're going to enjoy 70 degree temps for Halloween! The kids would be ecstatic with snow as Scott & Donna's families have though.

Halloween Party

Our ward Halloween party was Friday night. We had a lot of fun. I finally got Robbie to dress up. He was a big hit. Everyone kept asking if he was wearing a wig. Robbie and I had been invited to an adult Halloween party after the ward party and that was how I got him to dress up. We had a great time dressing up. Cade thought his dad looked "cool."

First Snow

So Scott wrote about it snowing here last Saturday night. Cade woke up Sunday morning and was so excited to play in the snow. He could not think until I put on his snow clothes. I thought he would only think the snow was fun for a minute, but he ended up being out playing in it by himself for about an hour. (I was getting ready for church and Robbie was gone.) He is definitely just like his daddy.

Pumpkin Patch

Here is Cade at a pumpkin patch. I went with him for his preschool field trip so Shayla got to come too. We had a lot of fun walking through the corn maze and playing around. Cade has learned a very cute song about pumpkins that his class is singing in the one picture.

Rachie's 9th birthday!!

Okay so you would never know it from looking at the pictures but I decided a few years ago that after each kid turned 8 that I was done doing birthday parties until they had there last one at 12! Well I let Rachel have 3 friends over on Friday night and of course, I had to get a few little projects they could do.....so we ended up decorating a haunted gingerbread house, decorated sugar cookies, ate pizza and painted backpack holders!! Oh yea, and watched a movie and ding-dong ditched one of her friends houses with the sugar cookies!!! Whew! We were busy!!!

Cute Katie Lynn

I thought this was a really cute picture of Katie decorating sugar cookies at Rachel's birthday party. She isn't wearing orange and black for Halloween but for spirit day which is ALWAYS on Friday's at there school. They are the Cortina Tigers and are black/orange. They earn Tiger bucks if they wear school colors. I can tell we have told Katie how cute she is her whole life because now we will ask her, "Katie, you are sooo cute!" and she always responds with, "Yea I know!" in a very know it all type of voice! It's good to be confident! lol

Activity Days-Western Style

With Rachel being in love with horses and cowgirls-she decided that is what she wanted to be for Halloween. The Activity Day girls had a Costume Party and here she is in her costume! The last picture is with her best friend Summer!!

Princess & Power Ranger

I was going to post the picture of Brie, Baylie, Garrett & Hailey at Spooktacular, but Kas beat me to it! So I'll at least post the other picture I have of just Garrett & Hailey, it's all I've got! They had a fun time at Spooktacular!

I hope our nieces and nephews have a fun Halloween!

Finally -- for your viewing pleasure.

I finally made it over to Richard & Yvonne's this weekend to take pictures of the fireplace shelves and the top of the entertainment center so you can see what a great job Yvonne did.

Also, here's a picture of our kids and Kevin & Jaime's kids at Spooktacular (which is Kevin's favorite night of the year -- right!). We had a great time trick-or-treating at the zoo and the weather was great -- not as many pumpkins as in years past though.

In addition, yesterday was "decade day" at Brie's school, so I dressed her up in 80's garb. She said she looked like one of the Super 6 Chicks from the movie "13 Going on 30". She liked everything except tucking her pants into her socks!

My sister, Christi, is coming to visit this Thursday. She had never been to Missouri before, so I'm really looking forward to it. Even though we're 14 years apart, we're still close.

My Dad had chemotherapy yesterday and so far so good. I appreciate all of the e-mails/phone calls I've received from you expressing your love and support.

Take care and have a good week!

Kas

K.C. Marathon

Nicole ran the K.C. marathon today. I think she finished 7th overall out of the females. We stayed downtown lastnight and ate at Jack Stacks, It's super good barbecue. After the marathon, we went to the Deana Rose Farm (petting zoo). Tanner is in love with tractors so every tractor we walked by we had to stop for a few minutes and let him drive. He loved it.

Baylie's Birthday

Just a note to update you on the latest from our family. We had a great time celebrating Baylie's birthday with both friends and family. Then, right after her birthday, Baylie came down with the flu! She missed 4 days of school -- her first day back was yesterday. On Sunday, I got the flu and barely made it to work today -- I can only blog from the office due to our less-than-stellar internet connection at home.
I thought you might enjoy seeing a picture of the honey we got from our hives this year -- we got one gallon and we're hoping to get four gallons next year. Gary's like the Little Red Hen who does all the work and we're the ones who just want to eat the honey when it's in a jar.
I promised Donna I'd get a picture of Richard & Yvonne's fireplace hearth and send it, but between sicknesses and General Conference, I haven't made it over there yet. Donna, I haven't forgotten -- I'll be sure to post it once I finally make it over there to take the picture.
My Dad is having a port put in today and begins chemotherapy on Monday. His cancer has spread to his lymph nodes, liver, pancreas, and other organs. I am going to St. George Nov 6th-13th to visit and to help.
I love seeing what you are up to -- it looks like everyone is keeping busy!

Mining is not my thing!

We drove to Bisbee, Arizona which is about 20 miles from the Mexico line to go visit an underground mine called Queen Mine. It is no longer in operation but the tour guides have stuck around to give tours and to explain how they used to work in these mines. It was a little claustrophobic for me-but the tour guide had some amazing information and I thought it was interesting. One of the ladies did freak out as we were riding on the train rail-going in. We had only made it 100 ft. and she started yelling she had to get off! She ended up walking out. I thought about it a time or two and realized I could NEVER have been a miner! The last picture is with me and the guys at the OK Corral. They are supposed to be Morgan, Virgil Earp and the one holding onto my arm is Doc Holliday. Wyatt Earp had to leave after the shootout to go sell more tickets or he would have been there as well. That picture took place in Tombstone, AZ where we went after we left Bisbee. It is only 30 miles north of Bisbee and on our way back to Tucson.

Horseback riding

Our resort in Tucson had horse stables where you could go on rides up into the Coronado National Forest. We got up early, ate breakfast and got on the first trail of the day. It was a beautiful morning and these horses are very trained for walking on the VERY rocky trail. As you can see-my horse was itty bitty compared to Ron's. We got a good laugh when we saw in these pictures what a difference there was! Made me feel more comfortable as I never have liked horseback riding much!

Duck Hunt

This past weekend we went to Torrey, UT. I had never been there before nor heard of it, but it is right at the start to Capital Reef National Park. I would have to say that it is probably the most beautiful part of Utah I have ever been to. It was so pretty especially with all the fall colors. It was really cold and the one day we had snow squalls, but we still had a great time. We actually went down for the duck hunt, which I don't really approve of. We took our trailer and went with Robbie's family. Billy brought a friend as well. I guess because of how the mountains come together right in that area it forms a natural flyway for ducks. The kids and I did not actually participate in the duck hunting part. Robbie's parents are really into geo-caching. So we went on two geo-cache expeditions on the four-wheelers. It was really fun and the kids love it because they think they are looking for treasure. Most of the geo-caches have little treasures in them. We had a great time. We were able to get conference in our trailer while down there so that was nice as well. We also saw three rainbows on our way down there. I feel like rainbows are lucky and since we have seen quite a few lately that means good luck.
